St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1883 by a congregation of     Christians under the pastorate of the Reverend Act Tillery.

Over a span of more than half a century the congregation met at several different location   in Weldon North Carolina. Some  of the places were Evan Hill located on 2nd street and Popular street. Then in 1947 the first  church house was torn down for a new one. While under construction, the congregation met at what was then called Halifax County Training School.

Finally in 1949 the congregation moved into the new church at its present location            408 Mulberry Street. St. Peters is a friendly hometown church where Jesus the Christ is celebrated with the realization that "He (Jesus) who is mighty to us has done great things,     Holy is His Name"

The Church history is read in its entirety during the Church Anniversary celebration.
